As we are farmers ourselves purchasing dairy cattle direct from our farms eliminates additional ‘middle man’ costs as we offer a full animal handle the entire export process (selection – quarantine – transport).

Furthermore, we have pioneered the ‘slick’ heat tolerant gene which is a breakthrough for milk production in tropical and sub tropical climates. As the cow comfort zone is between 8-18 degrees most African climates fall into the heat stress zone which diminishes milk production and compromises fertility etc.
By breeding pure dairy cattle with a ‘slick’ heat tolerant gene one creates a pure dairy animal with the same heat tolerance of any indigenous breed but with significantly more production potential in sub optimal warmer climates
As per subject matter, Green Dairy purchased 220 dairy heifers from Clifton Meadows three years ago. The Heifers were well bred and despite the long trip (over 3000km) acclimatised smoothly to our conditions here in Zambia.
The quarantine and transport process was handled entirely by Clifton Meadows and we were regularly updated on progress. It is our opinion that the medium frame heifers fare better in the warmer climates with superior production per kg live weight and shorter inter-calving periods. We would gladly recommend Clifton Meadows to anyone requiring AI bred, hardy and functional dairy cattle.

Danmoz is an integrated Dairy Business based in Chimoio, Mozambique. Over the last 5 years it has purchased 350 dairy heifers from Clifton Meadows Farm in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. Danmoz has been pleased with the genetic merit of the animals received as well as their condition on arrival. Heifers received have been hardy and produced well despite the tough hot tropical conditions and general parasitic load of the environment.
We would be happy to recommend Clifton Meadows to any potential client as they have a large selection of quality heifers who have undergone intensive vaccination programs.
Ross Kietzmann of Clifton Meadows (Pvt) Ltd of the Eastern Cape, Port Elizabeth is a Commercial Dairy farmer and also sells Dairy Heifers. We and Gokwe Dairy had the privilege of buying 68 Jersey and Aysheir Heifers for Rusitu and Gokwe Dairy and they have been performing very well since September 2018.
Mr Kietzmann has a good knowledge of the Zimbabwe Import, Export rules and regulations and has the capacity to quarantine two hundred heifers at a given time. And is also able to transport to any destination in Zimbabwe. I would not hesitate to recommend him to any interested party who wishes to engage his service.
